June 13, 2005 - Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) is pleased to report that several district communities have been awarded Municipal Recycling Grants by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The grants will be used to promote and continue recycling programs in their communities. “Town officials should be commended for their efforts in keeping their towns among the environmentally conscious communities in the state,” said Senator Moore. “Through these grants they can continue their work in promoting the benefits of and need for recycling programs.” According to the DEP, since 1990, the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and the DEP have granted over $41 million in recycling equipment, household hazardous waste equipment, educational materials and technical assistance to municipalities throughout the Commonwealth. Municipalities, assisted by these grants, play a vital role in building Massachusetts’ recycling infrastructure and promoting consumer participation in recycling, composting and hazardous waste collection programs. The following towns have received DEP Municipal Recycling Grants: |
