|
March 16, 2005 – Senator Richard T. Moore is please to report that the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA) Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has approved financing of the drinking water project in the town of Dudley. The Dudley project is one of 28 projects across the state which has received funding through the DEP’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The EOEA has approved financing of $4,394,000 for the construction of new wells, security, and replacement of Bates Hill Water Storage Tank. The purpose of the project is to provide Dudley with high quality drinking water and adequate water storage capacity. The EOEA provides financing through a 2% interest loan. “This is welcome news as this is a project which affects all residents in the town of Dudley. I commend all those involved who took the time to seek out the necessary financing to get this project done,” said Senator Moore. The Massachusetts Drinking Water State Revolving Fund provides low-cost financing to help community public water suppliers comply with federal and state drinking water requirements. The DWSRF Program’s goals are to protect public health and strengthen compliance with drinking water requirements, while addressing the Commonwealth’s drinking water needs.
