April 4, 2011 ... United States Marine Corps 1st Lieutenant Michael J. Gagnon

The Oxford native is currently part of a logistical operations team mentoring and advising the Afghan Border Police. The Team, Border Mentor Team 2, is composed of both Marines and Sailors. 1st Lt. Gagnon expects to return home sometime before summer with a fall return to Afghanistan planned, with his brothers of the Marine Wing Support Squadron 371.

When Sen. Moore learned of
1st Lt. Gagnon's deployment and his efforts in the Middle East, the
veteran legislator was compelled to send the Marine a token of the
Commonwealth's appreciation. According to Sen. Moore, it is
important that those who remain at home do not forget the sacrifices he and all men and women in the armed forces make for us, our children and our country. This official flag of the Commonwealth, though small in size,
was paid for personally by Sen. Moore, and will serve as a reminder to 1st Lt. Gagnon
and his unit that there are many of us back home who are indebted to
their service and wish them a safe and timely return.
