Documents required for registration are –
- Obtaining a registration certificate under one of the following:
- Act on Factories
- Act on shops and establishments
- An official certificate of registration for a company and a partnership deed for a partnership.
- Company’s Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association.
- Employees working in the establishment are listed here.
- A PAN card is required for the Business Entity and all employees.
- An overview of all employees’ compensation.
- Cancelled check from company bank account.
- The company’s directors are listed below.
- The shareholders of the company are listed below.
- The attendance register contains the employees’ attendance information.
The following procedure must be followed for the registration of the ESI after collecting all the above-mentioned documents:
- You will need to download and fill out Form No. 1 (Employer Registration Form).
- Upon downloading and filling out the PDF version, the form must also be submitted on the ESIC website along with the above documents.
ESI Eligibility: Who is eligible?
Employees or workers with disabilities must not make more than Rs.21,000 per month in order to qualify for the ESI scheme.

Employers are required to register with esi pf registration fees online and do not need to submit physical applications before or after registering. Here are the steps to register:
- Click on the ‘Login’ button on the ESIC Portal.
- Go to the new page and click ‘Sign Up.
- Please enter your company name, employer name, state, region, and email ID (which will be your username).
- If your company or factory is under an exclusive labor contract, manpower supplier, security agency or contractor supplying labor categories, click the checkbox to confirm.
- An email with login credentials will be sent after clicking on ‘Submit’.
- Logging into the ESIC Portal is the next step once you have signed up.
- You will need to enter the username and password you received via email and click on ‘Login’.
ESI contribution rates: what are they?
It was previously the employer’s and employee’s responsibility to contribute to the ESI scheme. Earlier, this contribution was:
- 6.5% of the total
- The employer’s fund is 4.75%
- Employees pay 1.75% of the total.
However, according to ESIC’s latest rules:
- In this case, the employee contributes 0.75%
- There is a 3.25 percent employer share
Contributions to the ESI collection
Deducting the employee’s contribution from wages and combining it with the employer’s contribution is the employer’s responsibility.
Employers must deposit the combined contributions by the 15th day of the following month. They can also make the payments online or at authorized State Bank of India branches.
